Working with DragonFrame is new to me, but it was satisfying. Once, I got the hang of the process and the technical limbs – it was thoroughly enjoyable. I feel I would utilise stop motion in later projects, but in a somewhat alternative way. I also found that through trial and error, the immediacy of movement through puppetry allowed me to really think about movement – incrementally. In this mode of working, I found it difficult to work with key frames and go back to do the in-betweens – so I worked in an incremental fashion, which is something I became more accustomed to through continuous failed attempts.

Maya 3D Software Workshop

I found it extremely difficult to navigate Maya. My preferences has always been 2D, and still is – but I would love to collaborate with a 3D animator and do draw overs. My first attempt was not so great, but I will try again. Using Maya has made me think of longevity – for me – Maya is not something I’d invest. However, I am fascinated by the process of sculpting, texturing, colouring and rigging – I just have no inclination to pursue it.

TVPaint vs Procreate

TVPaint is very intuitive for me, however the lack of brushes is something I have to adjust to. Procreate, on the other hand, allows me to smoothly work on small animations. I guess that is the down side to working on Procreate – I wouldn’t be able to create a long film. The range of brushes procreate can provide is so good.
